Notice of Special Meeting For The Purpose of Election of Pierce County Democrats Executive Board Delegate/Secretary
Elections for the position of Pierce County Democrats Executive Board Delegate and Secretary for the 26th LD Democrats will be held during our regular March meeting, Thursday March 1, 2018 at 7 PM. Location for this meeting is Givens Community Center, 1026 Sidney Ave, Port Orchard 98366.
Ten (10) members attending a duly called and noticed special meeting shall constitute a quorum. Members eligible for this vote are elected and appointed Precinct Committee Officers. Proxies and absentee votes are never permitted per our bylaws.
Candidates may be self nominated. Nominating and seconding speeches are permitted. If there are more than two candidates for a position and no candidate receives a majority of the votes cast, the name of the person with the fewest votes shall be deleted and a vote taken on the remaining candidates until one candidate has a majority.
The Pierce County Democrats Executive Board Delegate will finish out the current term for this position which will expire in December of 2018. Per our bylaws, at least one of our delegates shall not be of the same gender and our organization already meets this requirement.
Delegates to a County Central Committee Executive board represent the 26th LD Democrats at the County Central Committee Executive Board meetings or as otherwise determined by applicable bylaws of the respective Central Committees. This member will serve until December 2018 or until removed by membership or appointing authority at an earlier date.
The Secretary will finish out the current term for this position which will expire in December of 2018.
The secretary is responsible for preparing the agenda for each monthly or other official meeting, coordinating such with the Chair and Executive Board. They will also keep minutes and records of the organization, including minutes of general, special and Executive Board meetings.

February 2018 General Meeting

Join us for the February 2018 general meeting of the 26th LD Democrats! We will hear from Leslie Rothbaum who will tell us about the upcoming Kitsap County Democrats Annual Dinner and Auction, Pierce County Council Member Derek Young who will tell us about Senate Bill 6091, signed into law by Gov. Jay Inslee on Jan. 19 (Hirst Decision-rural water wells, rights). Then we’ll hear from our State Committee People Joy Vartanian and Don Bartley who will share news and information from the Washington State Democrats Central Committee held this last weekend in Bellingham WA. Our LD Caucus Chair Johanna Baxter will let us know about our upcoming caucus on Saturday March 24th and answer all questions about the caucus/convention process. See you there!

Per the 2018 Washington State Democrats Delegate Selection and Affirmative Action Plan , the 26th Legislative Democrats are tasked with electing one representative each for the following Washington State Democrats State Convention Committees: Credentials, Platform and Rules. (Information on each committee is listed below).
The Washington State Democrats State Convention will be held on June 16-17, 2018 in Wenatchee WA (Location: To be determined)
Although any 26th LD Democrat can be nominated for one of these committee positions, only elected and appointed Precinct Committee Officers are eligible to vote in this election. Our chair, state committee man and state committee woman are not eligible to be nominated for these positions as they are designated as automatic delegates to the Washington State Democrats State Convention.

Nominees should be individuals committed to the Party and Democratic Values and be members in good standing of their local appointing organization. These are important leadership positions demanding a great deal of time, dedication and ability to work well with others in small and large group settings. It is expected that appointees will adhere to the WSDCC Code of Conduct.

We’re holding ongoing Precinct Committee Officer and Volunteer Canvass trainings. Please plan to attend at le
ast one of our trainings so you know how to Rise & Organize canvass in your own Precincts. Bring your laptops and smartphones and we’ll give you one-on-one training on how to cut turf and use mini-van. We encourage all PCOs to attend.Feel free to bring a friend or two. See you there!

We are actually canvassing on these days so dress for the weather. You’ll need to bring a charged smart phone with MiniVan downloaded on it. We’ll train you on the script and Minivan and you can start knocking on doors nearby.
Trainings For PCOs: All PCOs are invited to get more in-depth training on Votebuilder. Learn how to cut turfs for Rise & Organize. We’ll cover this after the script and MiniVan trainings and others have left to knock on doors. Please bring your laptops and tablets and we’ll take as much time as need to make sure you’re a pro turf-cutter.
