26th LD Democrats General Membership Meeting
This is the monthly membership meeting of the 26th LD Democrats. Usually, our meetings are held at Givens Community Center (1026 Sidney Rd, Port Orchard 98366).
One time only, this meeting is in Vaughn at the Key Peninsula Civic Center.
The social time starts at 6:30 p.m.; our chair calls the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Come be part of the action!
How to Talk to Your Racist Uncle
Be part of our movement to advance institutional change for racial equity.
Workshop participants will engage in a comprehensive exploration of how racism shapes American institutions, often without our conscious understanding that it is doing so.
This series of workshops will help you understand that the problem of racism isn’t a problem that you created, but it is a serious problem that you have inherited and perpetuate everyday.
Pierce County Democrats
Come at 6:00 p.m. to socialize and grab a bite to eat. Each legislative district hosts the meeting meal. Suggested donation is $5.
The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. All PCOs are eligible to vote. All Democrats may join after this meeting (and ahead of time online at http://www.piercecountydems.org/. The agenda includes an opportunity to learn about the standing committees, and some of the new opportunities the chair would like you to consider. Everyone will have the chance to select a committee or workgroup! You will also hear about upcoming events, fundraisers and LDs news.
Key Peninsula Democrats Social
Scott Gallacher, Executive Director of Key Pen Parks moved a lot of dirt to get Gateway Park ready for its Sept. 30 grand opening. Scott will discuss the new park and other work underway by the Parks District, and
Rob Manahan, Peninsula School District Superintendent, will give us a back-to-school report. (Rand Wilhelmson had agreed to appear, but had a conflict, so Mr. Manahan will be our “substitute.” Superintendent Manahan is shaking up the PSD with the new Facility Committee and other new ideas he has brought to the District.
