We’ll be voting for a new Pierce Vice Chair, Secretary, and State Committeeman (elected/appointed PCOs are the only ones eligible to vote per our bylaws, if you have NOT received our PCO call for this meeting, please click here.
We will be hearing from Marty Bishop (longtime 26th LD Democrats member) about the latest efforts of 350.org to transition to sustainable energy and also the next efforts to pass a gas tax in Washington state. Here are some sites she recommends to check out before the meeting

Notice of Special Meeting For The Purpose of Election of Pierce Vice Chair/ State Committeeman/Secretary
Elections for the position of Pierce Vice Chair, Secretary and State Committeeman for the 26th LD Democrats will be held during our regular December meeting, Thursday December 7th, 2017 at 7 PM. Location for this meeting is Givens Community Center, 1026 Sidney Ave, Port Orchard 98366.
Ten (10) members attending a duly called and noticed special meeting shall constitute a quorum. Members eligible for this vote are elected and appointed Precinct Committee Officers. Proxies and absentee votes are never permitted per our bylaws.
Candidates may be self nominated. Nominating and seconding speeches are permitted. If there are more than two candidates for a position and no candidate receives a majority of the votes cast, the name of the person with the fewest votes shall be deleted and a vote taken on the remaining candidates until one candidate has a majority.
The Pierce Vice Chair will finish out the current term for this position which will expire in December of 2018. Per our bylaws, the chair and at least one Vice Chair shall not be of the same gender and our organization already meets this requirement.
The Vice Chair serves as the presiding officer in the absence of the Chair or at other times upon request. They represent the organization on the county Executive Board for the county of residence. The Vice Chair will also assist the Chair by attending and participating in committees as requested by the Chair, and will identify Democrats who may wish to be appointed Precinct Committee Officers in vacant precincts in their respective county.
The State Committeeman will finish out the current term for this position which will expire in December of 2018. To be considered, the nominee need not be a PCO, but must be a member in good standing.
The State Committeeman represents the organization at meetings of the State Central Committee and at meetings of the County Central Committee Executive Board for their county of residence and report the activities thereof at organization meetings. They will also serve on committees of the WSDCC as well as serve on the organization’s Executive Board. The State Committeeman may perform liaisons with state and county organizations upon request. NOTE: Committeeman or committeewoman may be removed from the position for failure to attend two consecutive state committee meetings, upon action by the membership after notice of such intent and opportunity for hearing.
The Secretary will finish out the current term for this position which will expire in December of 2018.
The secretary is responsible for preparing the agenda for each monthly or other official meeting, coordinating such with the Chair and Executive Board. They will also keep minutes and records of the organization, including minutes of general, special and Executive Board meetings.

Call to November 2017 Meeting
The focus of this month’s meeting will be “Get Out The Vote”, and we request that our members bring their phones with them and help make some calls with us!
We’ll also hear from our endorsed candidate campaigns on any last minute volunteer opportunities, There will be brief reports from our Executive Board and we’ll finish out with upcoming events and information.
Come and join us for fun on Thursday November 2, 2017 at Givens Community Center, 1026 Sidney Avenue, Port Orchard 98366. Our meeting comes to order at 7 PM, but please come early for our dinner/social at 6:30 PM.
The agenda for this meeting is still in the making. It will be posted as soon as it is completed. Our secretary Dan Ransom recently resigned as he is moving out of the area (We wish you great luck Dan and thank you so much for your service!) and so we are looking for a new Secretary. Elections for this position will take place during our December meeting.
