Why Are We Holding Caucuses and Conventions

Though 2018 is not a presidential year, here in Washington state our state bylaws require us to hold a State Convention every even year, regardless of whether there is a presidential race, to draft our State Party Platform

The 2018 Washington State Convention will be held in Wenatchee on June 16-17,2018. This year the State Convention is the final stop and big event for those elected at the Legislative District Caucus and County Convention.

The process of holding local Legislative District Caucuses and County Conventions is THE opportunity for grassroots Democrats to shape the party and become engaged in the local organizations. While these meetings serve to elect delegates and alternates to the State Convention to round out our voting body, the real opportunity lies in well run local events engaging and welcoming new party activists at the local level to help build our leadership base and help elect Democrats.
